Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds formed out of a side project, when these two musicians crossed paths and as a little side project, together performed some songs, the majority written by Matthews would go on to be components of award winning albums. They also released three albums together, all of which are in fact live albums performed on acoustic guitars. The first of which is “Live at Luther College” released on January 19th 1999, recorded at Luther College, in Decorah, Iowa on February 6th 1996.

Apart from these two, Matthews and Reynolds performed the entire concert together. I am so thankful that Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds hold an apparent allegiance to Shoreline Amphitheater in Redwood City, Ca. Because it means with every major tour and then some, Dave is coming to town. To start, DMB is a great troupe, with such a fantastic sound that is just meant to be showcased live. So many elements make a Dave Matthews show great.
Whether it is their extended songs showing off different instruments, Dave's extensive list of hit after hit, his appreciation for other artists and willingness to cover others or his down right entertaining personality.So to see Dave Matthews live is a treat. Throw in Tim Reynolds and it is a gift from the Gods.
The way these two play together somehow fits together so perfectly and brilliantly creating an all-star duo. I have seen Dave Matthews with his band, and was a little disappointed because it seemed to me focused on promoting their new album (who can blame them.) That is not to say it was not a blast, and the fact that Tim Reynolds had just joined the band made it an even greater night. If and when The Dave Matthews Band comes to town, take a look at tickets and try to make it happen. But if ever we are so lucky that Tim and Dave Tour together or play just a few shows even, please please for the sake of music and humanity, go and witness their brilliance. I was so lucky to see Dave Matthews perform at Neil Young's Bridge School Benefit a few years back and Dave brought Timmy along. Just the best.

It's not that powerful (200ws - they do make a 300ws version, but the instructions to my wife was to spend as little as possible, a notion she agrees with), but it's small. How to muscle test myself. (it's on the left, the SV is camera right in this shot).The SV is FAST compared to the stellar extreme. I could outshoot the SE with both units at 3/4 power - I have some shots where the SV fired and the SE did not.The claim to fame of the SV monolights, though, is the digital control of color, particularly at lower strengths. I've yet to validate this, but from a shoot I did at 1/16 tonight, it was very fast, seemed to be very accurate, and I didn't have rapid shot-to-shot variations that I can get with the SE.
